Maritime Law Journal

Pîrî Reis University Faculty of Law provides advanced education in order to train future lawyers who will serve in every branch of law within the judicial and administrative systems both nationally and internationally who can conduct scientific research, who are respectful to our national values and committed to Ataturk’s principles and revolutions, who have modern and creative mindset with analytical skills. Our Faculty is a member of European Law Faculties Association (ELFA) and European Law Institute (ELI).

Furthermore, considering the great need for maritime and maritime law in Turkey due to its geography, our University gives particular importance to MARITIME LAW. In connection with the University’s proximity to maritime affairs and having Turkey’s strongest maritime experts, as well as being a member of the IAMU (International Association of Maritime Universities) and also holding the position of presidency for a while in BSAMI (Black Sea Association of Maritime Institutions), our Faculty focuses on studies and research both in the fields of law of the sea and commercial maritime law.

In order to support the legal research in the field, our university established the “Pîrî Reis University Maritime Law Application and Research Center” in 2018 which has collaboration with “University of Swansea, The Institute of International Shipping & Trade Law”. Also, we offer an LL.M. program and a doctorate program in Maritime Law.

In order to reflect our research in the field of maritime law, our Faculty also publishes the Pîrî Reis University Maritime Law Journal which is a peer-reviewed journal featuring high-quality articles on maritime law in Turkish, English, French and German. This way, we hope to offer a new platform to contribute to the development of the maritime law and achieve our current research.

Academics and lawyers who would like to contribute to the Journal should send their manuscripts to denizhukukudergisi@pirireis.edu.tr by April 1st for the June issue and by October 1st for the December issue.  Submitted works are expected to comply with the Publication Principles and Ethical Rules that is available in our website.

We look forward to your valuable contributions to the Journal which aims to contribute to national and international literature with original academic studies in the public and private law dimensions of the maritime law.
