SECTION ONE
Purpose, Scope and Definitions
Purpose
ARTICLE 1 – The purpose of this directive is to regulate the procedures and principles regarding the establishment, purposes, fields of activity, structuring, duties, authorities and responsibilities of the Piri Reis University Social Contribution Commission.
Scope
ARTICLE 2- This directive covers the provisions regarding the establishment, duties, authorities, responsibilities and working principles of the Piri Reis University Social Contribution Commission.
Basis
ARTICLE 3- This Directive has been prepared based on Articles 12 and 14 of the Higher Education Law No. 2547 dated 04/11/1981.
Definitions
ARTICLE 4- (1) In this Directive;
- a) President: The President of the Piri Reis Social Contribution Commission.
- b) Quality Coordination Office: Piri Reis University Quality Coordination Office
- c) Rector: The Rector of Piri Reis University,
- d) Social Contribution Commission: The Piri Reis University Social Contribution Commission,
- e) University: Piri Reis University,
SECTION TWO
Organization, Duties, Authorities and Responsibilities
Organizational Structure of the Commission
ARTICLE 5- (1) The Social Contribution Commission is chaired by the Rector; it consists of a Vice Rector, University Quality Coordinator and members to be assigned by the Rector from among the full-time Academic and/or Administrative Staff of the University for 1 year.
(2) A member whose term of office has expired may be reassigned.
(3) A new member is appointed using the same method to replace the member who is discharged or whose term of office expires before the end of the membership period, to complete the remaining term.
(4) The distribution of duties within the Commission is made by the President.
Working Principles and Procedures of the Commission
ARTICLE 6- (1) The Commission convenes once every four months upon the call of the Rector or Vice Rector with an absolute majority of the number of members; it may convene extraordinary meetings upon the request of the President or the absolute majority of the members.
(2) In the absence of the Commission President, the Vice Rector presides over the ordinary and/or extraordinary meetings. In the absence of both, a member chosen by the Commission from among themselves may preside over the meetings.
(3) In order to ensure that the work and reporting are carried out rapidly and effectively, internal or external stakeholder meetings may be held within the Commission, and sub-working groups may be formed from the Commission Members.
(4) The Commission’s ordinary and extraordinary meetings are held with the absolute majority of the total number of members and decisions are taken with the absolute majority of the participants. In the event of a tie, the decision is deemed to have been made in accordance with the vote of the President.
(5) In Commission meetings, support services such as secretariat, personnel, venue, etc. are provided by the General Secretariat.
The Duties, Authorities and Responsibilities of the Commission
ARTICLE 7- (1) To ensure the organization of social contribution activities in line with the University’s strategy and objectives,
(2) To monitor and report the evaluation, implementation, improvement and development of activities planned for the benefit of society by the University, external stakeholders (public and private institutions/organizations), individuals of the society and civil society organizations,
(3) To support the sustainability, dissemination and development of social contribution activities and to ensure social contribution coordination at the University, to support communication and interaction between internal and external stakeholders and individuals of the society,
(4) To monitor and improve social contribution activities, to measure and evaluate them based on data and to manage the processes of reporting and publishing the results,
(5) To support the integration of social contribution processes with education-training and research-development activities,
(6) To support the determination and updating of the University’s social contribution goals, policies and strategies and to contribute to their adoption and internalization by stakeholders,
(7) To support the participation of students registered at the University in social contribution activities,
(8) To make recommendations on the establishment of Social Contribution Sub-Working Committees in the units when necessary,
(9) To create the section related to social contribution in the preparation process of the Annual Institutional Internal Evaluation Report, to obtain data on studies related to social contribution from the relevant units and to make their evaluations.

ARTICLE 8- (1) This Directive shall enter into force on the date it is approved by the Senate of Piri Reis University.
Execution
ARTICLE 9– (1) The provisions of this directive shall be executed by the Rector of Piri Reis University.
