The Duties, Powers and Responsibilities of the Piri Reis University Social Contribution Commission
Piri Reis University undertakes to observe social contribution in every academic and administrative process, to carry out and support activities in accordance with the social contribution policy in order to provide the widest range of benefits to the society in terms of social, cultural and economic aspects together with its internal and external stakeholders. In this context, the Social Contribution Commission carries out the activities collected under the following six headings in the fields of education-training, research and community service.
1- Leadership in Social Contribution Activities
1.1. Creating awareness of social and global problems in all internal and external stakeholders of our university, to develop a culture of sharing and cooperation
1.2. Contributing to the design, development, improvement and continuity of all academic and administrative processes carried out in our university in a way that will support the solution of social problems and contribute to social development
1.3. Determining priority areas for social contribution
1.4. Supporting social contribution projects (human resources, space, budget, stakeholders, etc.)
1.5. Examining the meaning and philosophy of social contribution with its historical and social dimensions
2-Creating Awareness
2.1. Disseminating the concept of volunteering
2.2. Giving life to the concept of “Piri Reis Volunteers”, providing it with a corporate identity and increasing the number of members
2.3. In addition to community service, ensuring awareness among students, administrative and academic staff in community benefit activities where volunteering is essential, encouraging them to support the activities and including them in working groups
2.4. Organizing activities and events such as education, conferences, seminars, workshops, etc. that will provide social awareness
2.5. Supporting the observance of social equality with services and activities for disadvantaged groups
2.6. Providing awareness-raising training and information for the benefit of all living things interacting within the ecosystem
2.7. Conducting studies to ensure the recognition and protection of historical, cultural and social heritage
2.8. Conducting activities to remind the written and unwritten rules of urban life
2.9. Working on the protection of nature and natural resources
2.10. Organizing events, activities or awareness trainings related to those that are beneficial to the society by keeping a chronological track of important days and weeks
3-To Provide Coordination
3.1. Supporting communication and interaction by ensuring coordination between the units related to social contribution in our university
3.2. Forming working groups for the activities that are deemed appropriate to be carried out by a majority vote in the Social Contribution Commission, and coordinating the planning of timing and job descriptions
3.3. Preparing cooperation protocols for external stakeholders, and ensuring their signing and implementation
3.4. Supporting the educational and scientific activities/projects carried out throughout the institution, especially the Project Office Coordination, PRU Technopark, Maritime Law Application and Research Center, Maritime History Application and Research Center, ethics committee, and contributimg to the provision of data for the purpose of evaluation, analysis and reporting
3.5. Planning and supporting the planning of projects/events/activities related to purposes that contribute to society, in cooperation with the Student Activities Unit, Disabled Student Unit and Support Against Sexual Harassment and Violence Unit working under the Dean of Students Office within our university.

4.1. Preparing the Social Contribution web page
4.2. Preparing printed and online educational documents
5- Participating in Quality Processes
5.1. Contributing to the determination and updating of the social contribution policy and implementing it
5.2. Preparing the Social Contribution Commission Directive
5.3. Ensuring the achievement of the social contribution targets in the University’s Strategic Plan
5.4. Supporting the preparation of the sections of the institutional internal evaluation report (KIDR) belonging to the commission
5.5. Conducting at least one meeting with the quality commission annually and evaluating the relevant activities in terms of quality
5.6. Defining the processes in the field of interest of the commission with the PUKÖ cycle
6- Measurement, Evaluation and Reporting Activities
6.1. Establishing a standardized document management system, primarily the forms and procedures prepared for the purpose of recording and archiving all the work done for the purpose of contributing to the society, and ensuring its functionality
6.2. Preparing the minutes of the meetings of the social contribution commission held once every two months and sending them to all participants via e-mail, and reviewing the decisions taken in the meeting every four months
6.3. Submitting the annual activities to the Rectorate when requested
