Faculty of Arts and Sciences
Basic Sciences and R&D (Research and Development) are indispensable elements for making the Turkish economy and maritime sector more competitive in the global arena. Based on this understanding, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences was established in 2008 and consists of Basic Sciences and Social Sciences units such as Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics. The most fundamental goal of our faculty is to train individuals and develop scientific projects that will enrich and differentiate the basic science and innovation elements that are very important for our country and the maritime sector. In line with this goal, the Faculty of Arts and Sciences contributes to other faculties, especially in terms of meeting a large portion of the courses in the first year programs, and plays an important role in training qualified and equipped students for vocational courses.
Within the Faculty of Arts and Sciences, there are the “Marine Technologies Research and Development Laboratory” and the “Computational Materials Science Laboratory” where our academicians in the fields of Basic Sciences continue their scientific activities. Our faculty also carries out scientific research projects supported by TÜBİTAK (The Scientific and Technological Research Council of Türkiye). Our academicians publish the results of their scientific research in internationally respected journals.
Our Goal
As Piri Reis University Faculty of Arts and Sciences, our goal is to implement new education programs and provide the necessary basic education so that our students can take a strong and unique place in the rapidly advancing technological maritime field and in the development of Turkish maritime.
