Universities are not only educational institutions at the heart of social development and shaping the future, but also institutions that produce knowledge and present it to society by transforming it with technology for the welfare and happiness of humanity. Therefore, universities are crucial elements of science, technology, and social development.

In the global competitive environment, achieving the position we deserve can only be realized through qualified education and teaching, clear and effective communication, academic work at universal standards, and dynamic and flexible management.

As Piri Reis University, with the vision of becoming a leader in the development of maritime education and technologies in our country and one of the world’s most respected universities, we aim to train individuals who possess 21st-century competencies, manage change, generate innovations, and contribute to the transformation of our society through the light of knowledge. In this sense, in addition to providing the skilled workforce, which is the key element in transforming our maritime sector in line with the traditions of the era, we will play an active role in developing maritime technologies. We will establish the necessary ecosystem in the fields of education, research and development, and community service in every area required by the maritime sector.

Increasing the international recognition and prestige of our university, named after the world-renowned maritime expert Piri Reis, will be one of our primary goals. We will raise the PRU brand by flying the flag of Piri Reis University in every aspect related to maritime.

Dear Students,

As your Rector, I expect you not only to be students who attend classes and leave, but to become well-rounded individuals who think, conduct scientific research, develop projects, create, and also show interest in arts and sports.

Just as before, I expect you to embrace science as your guide, following the words of Mustafa Kemal Atatürk, the founder of our Republic, “The most genuine guide in life is science.” I hope that you will be responsible individuals who question, research, and enlighten those around you, serving our country and nation.
